biography.

SILVIA GIAMBRONE was born in 1981 in Agrigento, Italy. She lives and works between Rome and London. She collaborates with the Richard Saltoun Gallery in London, the STUDIO STEFANIA MISCETTI in Rome, and the Galleria Marcolini in Forlì.

Through the use of different artistic languages, such as performance, installation, sculpture, sound, and video, her work explores the dynamics and practices of the body, focusing in particular on violence against women.

Giambrone’s work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including: Young Italians 1968 – 2018 at the Italian Cultural Institute, New York, NY, USA (2018); The body is a fragile garment, curated by Paola Ugolini, Museo del Novecento, Florence, Italy (2018); Time is out of Joint, National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rome, Italy (2017); W. Women in Italian Design, IX Triennale, Design Museum, Milan, Italy (2016); Diversi Muri: An Homage to NOF4, Istituto Svizzero, Rome, Italy (2014); Rossini Foundation, Briosco, Italy (2018); Italienisches Kulturinstitut, Cologne, Germany (2015); National Museum of M. K. Čiurlionis, Kaunas, Lithuania (2015); and MAR Museum, Ravenna, Italy (2013). In 2019 she won the prestigious VAF Award, awarded by the Tedeschi Foundation to Italian artists under 40. In 2021 She collaborated in the Dior AW 2021-2022 collection, creating the exclusive “Hall of Shadows” installation at the Palace of Versailles and in 2022 the Best Short Film of the Tokyo Film Award and Best Experimental Short Award – Lady Filmmakers Festival in Los Angeles.
