about.

STUDIO STEFANIA MISCETTI participates in the event Notte Bianca”, promoted by the Municipality of Rome, by presenting the sculpture-installation Light Street by Luca Guatelli.

Luca Guatelli, born in 1979 in Brussels, lives and works in Rome.

The work of Guatelli was exhibited for the first time in a solo exhibition at the same STUDIO STEFANIA MISCETTI in 2003, curated by Barbara Tosi.

In 2004, Soligo Art Projects, Rome, hosted another solo show by Guatelli in the context of Domestica – nuove dinamiche nella dimensione del privato, curated by Raffaele Gavarro. His works have also been exhibited in Rome, in the context of important shows such as Generazionale, Palazzo dei Congressi, curated by Alberto Dambruoso, and Inchiostro indelebile – Impronte a regola d’arte, MACRO Ex-Mattatoio, curated by Domenico Giglio.

They are pins that Guatelli uses for Light Street, as well as for most of his two-dimensional works. It is precisely the pins, often associated with other materials such as sequins and silicones that design the contours of the figures and the words that inhabit his works of art, and which accompany the colours of printed paper materials, which are also an integral part of the pictorial texture.

Additionally, in Light Street the small metallic instruments lose their function and become the body of a work, an instrument of escape or entry from the chosen place.

The work powerfully evokes the suffering that every change in our existence entails, and becomes strongly symbolic of the growth linked to pain.

On the occasion of Notte Bianca, Luca Guatelli’s works will also be presented in the context of New Poetry / New Art, an event curated by Maria Ida Gaeta, which will take place at the Casa della Letteratura (Piazza dell’Orologio 3), from 10:30pm to 6:00am.
